The US Commerce Department reported that new home sales were up by 4.6 percent in May of this year. The median sale price was $235,300, while the average was $294,300. The supply of new homes on the market in May? Approximately 5.5 months, according to the Commerce Department. While inventory certainly isn't scarce, that's not necessarily a bad thing for buyers, who are often wooed with incentives galore, and at times are even able to negotiate the price.
