With the ability to receive real estate information on your own, you may wonder, as a buyer…
Why would I need a real estate agent?
Well, the answer to this question can be long or short. We’ll go with short.
When you have the opportunity to view a property for sale, whether you see it on the internet, or you see a sign in someone’s front yard, most of the time, the home is listed with a real estate agent. This means, the owner of the property has hired an agent, or realty company to sell, market and showcase their home. If you call, contact or run into the agent for the home, whether it be to ask a simple question (i.e., how much is this house?) or to find our more detailed information (i.e., how long has this home been on the market?), you are asking questions of the seller’s agent. No matter how you look at it, the agent that represents the seller is under ethical standards to best represent their own client. The information you are given will reflect that.
As a buyer, with your own buyer’s agent, you have someone who will work on your behalf. Your agent will represent you and will work on your behalf to give you information that puts you in a position that is as good as the position the seller is in.
From determining if the home is priced fairly, to writing an offer, your agent has the duty to provide you with any and everything necessary to make one of the biggest purchases of your life easier. Better still, a buyer's agent is paid by the Seller, as it benefits all parties for you to have an informed professional on your side. Having your own agent as a buyer is optional, but it could save you time, and money.
