In light of yesterday's post, it seems Texas is gearing up for a new storm. Tropical storm, Erin is expected to hit this morning, as the state prepares for the aftermath and possible damage.
The storm isn't expected to rise to hurricane levels, but the expected winds of up to 40 mph, can cause damage to property, and should be considered dangerous. Much like Hurricane Katrina, some Texas residents aren't really concerned, however with flash flood warnings in effect, it would probably be beneficial to be cautious.
This Old House has some good tips for those who want to protect their homes during a storm including: temporary window and door covers (nail plywood to windows), brace young trees (using nylon rope and wood stakes), and be sure to have flashlights, a fully charged cell phone, and a weather radio with batteries.
